LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Responding to a tweet from a customer, Ikea has decided to remove a picture with a 'negative connotation' from its store in Cardiff. It was a black and white photo of a young boy with his finger just under his nose. It was one of the series of photos of that boy in various poses.
When Stevie Davies Evans visited the store, he found it inappropriate and related it to 'Hitler pose.' He then tweeted at ikeauksupport: 'Saw this in 'Bedroom' in your Cardiff store... Inappropriate much? He added Hitler, # Salute hashtags too.
Later, in an interview with Wales Online, Evans said, 'I thought it was a bit weird because that pose has such negative connotations... I've got an 11-year-old daughter and I wouldn't want her mimicking that. It probably wasn't the best picture to put up.'
Ikea Manager apologized to the customer and removed the picture immediately. He added that the store uses photography to illustrate life at home in room sets.
