BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - The Commerce Department releases housing starts and building permits for September at 8:30 am ET Wednesday. Economists expect housing starts to have rebounded by 2.9 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual pace of 1.17 million units, compared to a drop of 5.8 percent to an annualized 1.14 million units in August.
Ahead of these reports, the greenback traded mixed against its major opponents. While the greenback rose against the euro, it held steady against the rest of major counterparts.
The greenback was worth 1.0968 against the euro, 103.41 against the yen, 0.9891 against the Swiss franc and 1.2287 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
