TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - North Korea reportedly said it has conducted sixth nuclear test on Sunday.
Pyongyang said it had successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. The quake caused by the test was 9.8 times more powerful than its previous test.
The state claimed that the bomb can be loaded onto an intercontinental ballistic missile and capable of being detonated even at higher altitudes.
'If North Korea did conduct a nuclear test, it is absolutely unacceptable,' Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly said. 'We must protest it strongly.'
Seoul also said Kim Jong-un's regime appeared to have performed a nuclear test.
Pyongyang's latest action is likely to further lift tensions in Northeast Asia.
