WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - With Hurricane Irma looming, President Donald Trump indicated Wednesday his hurricane response team is turning its attention to Florida.
'Watching Hurricane closely. My team, which has done, and is doing, such a good job in Texas, is already in Florida. No rest for the weary!' Trump said in a post on Twitter.
The tweet from Trump comes as Hurricane Irma is bearing down on the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and could make landfall in Florida on the heels of the devastation Hurricane Harvey caused in Texas.
'Hurricane looks like largest ever recorded in the Atlantic!' Trump noted in a separate tweet, with the Category 5 storm packing winds of up to 185 miles per hour.
The White House noted Trump issued emergency declarations for Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Tuesday.
Trump ordered federal assistance to supplement the response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Irma beginning on September 5th and continuing, the White House said.
