WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., revealed Wednesday that Republicans will release an outline of their tax reform plan the week of September 25th.
Speaking to reporters, Ryan said the outline will represent a consensus between the House Ways And Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, and the Trump administration.
Ryan said the tax writing committees would take feedback and input on the outline and then produce their bills in the weeks ahead.
'This is the beginning of the process. It's the beginning of a very important process to achieve for the first time in a generation overhauling our tax system and giving middle class families a much deserved break,' Ryan said.
He added, 'The whole point of all this is the House, the Senate, and the White House are starting from the same page and the same outline, and then the tax writers are going to take it from there on the details.'
Ryan said he would love to have support from Democrats but expressed confidence tax reform would be accomplished regardless.
The comments from Ryan come after President Donald Trump urged Congress to work quickly on tax reform in posts to Twitter earlier in the day.
'The approval process for the biggest Tax Cut & Tax Reform package in the history of our country will soon begin. Move fast Congress!' Trump tweeted.
He added, 'With Irma and Harvey devastation, Tax Cuts and Tax Reform is needed more than ever before. Go Congress, go!'
