LONDON (dpa-AFX) - A man who was arrested after he hit pedestrians in West London with his car, injuring 11 people, has been released under investigation. The crash was not terror-related, police have said.
The incident happened on Saturday, 7 October in Exhibition Road, south Kensington, when a black Toyota Prius mounted the pavement and collided with a number of pedestrians.
The 47-year old man was detained by officers. However, the police officials had indicated that the incident is a road traffic investigation and not a terrorist-related incident.
Eleven people were found at the scene with varying injuries and nine of had to be taken to hospital, including the driver. 'The majority of those injured have now been discharged and there are no serious injuries,' the Metropolitan police officials said in a statement.
DC Darren Case from the Roads and Transport Policing Command said: 'Because of where this collision occurred and the number of pedestrians involved, I fully appreciate the concern and alarm this incident caused. Enquiries have established that this incident is not terrorist related and I'd like to thank those who came to assist the injured. Thankfully there are no serious injuries with the majority now discharged from hospital.'
