BUCHAREST (dpa-AFX) - Romania's foreign trade deficit increased slightly in August from a year ago, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Tuesday.
The trade deficit rose to EUR 1.1 billion in August from from EUR 1.02 billion in the corresponding month last year. It was also higher than the shortfall of EUR 0.98 billion in July.
Both exports and imports grew by 10.7 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively in August from last year.
During the first eight months of the year, total trade deficit of the country was EUR 7.88 billion versus EUR 6.15 billion in the same period of 2016.
