BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Fraport AG (FRA.DE, 0O1R.L, FPRUF.PK), the owner and operator of Germany's Frankfurt Airport or FRA, reported Thursday that FRA welcomed about 6.4 million passengers in the month of June 2018, a 9.8 percent increase from the same month last year.
Aircraft movements climbed 8.9 percent to 45, 218 takeoffs and landings, while accumulated maximum takeoff weights or MTOWs rose 5.5 percent to around 2.8 million metric tons.
Meanwhile, cargo traffic, comprising airfreight and airmail, declined 2.8 percent to 182,911 metric tons in June 2018.
In the first half of the year, Frankfurt Airport recorded a 9.1 percent jump in traffic to 32.7 million passengers, with increased number of airline flight offerings, particularly on European routes.
Aircraft movements rose 8.6 percent to 247,061 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated MTOWs grew 5.9 percent to about 15.3 million metric tons. FRA's cargo throughput reached about 1.1 million metric tons, up 0.1 percent.
Fraport's international airport portfolio also delivered a strong performance. Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia's capital city recorded a 13.3 percent increase in June traffic and 15 percent rise in first half traffic. Lima Airport in Peru welcomed 7.5 percent more passengers in June and 9.8 percent more passengers in the first half.
