BEIJING (dpa-AFX) - New Oriental Education & Technology Group (EDU) released earnings for first quarter that decreased from last year.
The company's bottom line totaled $123.23 million, or $0.77 per share. This compares with $158.39 million, or $1.00 per share, in last year's first quarter.
Excluding items, New Oriental Education & Technology Group reported adjusted earnings of $184.14 million or $1.16 per share for the period.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.19 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company's revenue for the quarter rose 30.0% to $859.85 million from $661.17 million last year.
