ROME (dpa-AFX) - Italy's unemployment rate increased marginally in February from a record low in January, preliminary figures from the statistical office Istat showed on Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 5.3 percent, up from January's series record low of 5.2 percent. That was in line with expectations.
In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 6.2 percent.
The number of unemployed people was increased by 36,000 to 1.357 million in February compared to a month ago.
Meanwhile, the employment rate dropped to 62.4 percent from 62.5 percent.
