CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Sentiment in global markets remains positive despite intermittent escalation threats softening hopes of an early and smooth de-escalation and cessation of hostilities in the Middle East war.
Wall Street Futures are trading in positive territory as markets assessed the likelihood of an early end to the war. Strong economic data from the U.S. also supported sentiment. Benchmarks in Europe have also recorded strong gains. Earlier in the day, Asian markets had finished trading on an emphatically positive note.
The dollar index has slipped half a percent as haven bids cooled. Sovereign bond yields hardened in the U.S. but eased elsewhere.
Both the crude oil benchmarks are trading in the red. Gold and silver have recorded strong gains. Cryptocurrencies are trading with heavy overnight losses. Here is a snapshot of the major world markets at this hour. Stock Indexes:
