BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT/PARIS (dpa-AFX) - Eurozone producer prices declined in February due to a notable drop in energy prices, according to data released by Eurostat on Wednesday.
Producer prices decreased 0.7 percent from January, slightly more than the 0.6 percent fall expected by economists. Prices had increased 0.8 percent in January.
Excluding energy, producer prices edged up 0.1 percent. Prices of energy were down 2.4 percent and that of non-durable consumer goods slid 0.2 percent.
Cost of intermediate and capital goods gained 0.3 percent each. Prices of durable consumer goods moved up 0.2 percent.
On a yearly basis, producer prices posted a fall of 3.0 percent, in line with expectations, following a 2.0 percent decrease in January.
