STOCKHOLM (dpa-AFX) - Sweden's economy expanded at the quickest pace in more than two years in the June quarter, preliminary data from Statistics Sweden showed on Wednesday.
Gross domestic product rose 1.4 percent sequentially in the second quarter, reversing a 0.2 percent renewed fall in the first quarter. Economists were expecting a growth of 0.7 percent. Moreover, this was the fastest increase since the first quarter of 2024.
The annual economic growth accelerated to 2.8 percent from 2.0 percent in the March quarter.
On a monthly basis, GDP contracted 0.2 percent in June, in contrast to a 0.9 percent increase in May. The yearly economic growth moderated to 2.4 percent from 3.8 percent.
