Skanska has signed an agreement with the City of Malmö, Sweden, to begin phase two of the construction of a new football and athletics facility in Malmö. The contract is worth about SEK 990M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden in the second quarter of 2026.
Skanska has been working on the development of the new facility and the demolition of the existing stadium in the first phase for about a year. Production of the new facility will begin shortly.
The new athletics and football facility will be approved for international competitions and matches in athletics and football respectively and is planned to have a capacity of up to 8,000 spectators. It will include running tracks, jumping tracks and a javelin throw track. The building will include changing rooms with associated facilities, media areas, storage areas and some catering facilities.
The new facility is expected to be completed around the turn of the year 2028-2029.
